NEW MONTHLY MEETINGS!

The Anomaly Archives is now holding monthly meetings on the Fourth Saturday of most* months. The meetings will be held from 1-5pm on the fourth Saturday at the INACS / Anomaly Archives headquarters located in North West Austin just past the intersections of Research and Technology Boulevards (see bottom of email for detailed directions):

These meetings will be an opportunity for more of our Meetup members to come see the library first-hand. We are hoping many of you will be moved to become dues paying members so that you can not only read the books on-site but check-out books to take home and read at your leisure.

We’d like your help in making these monthly meetings as interesting and productive as possible. When we formed this online Meetup group we posted a couple of Online Polls for you to participate in. The vote tallies are below and reflect the voting results as of a couple days ago. Many of you are new to our group and we encourage you to participate and express your areas of interest regarding anomalies in general and future meetups in particular. SMiles Lewis has had a lifelong interest in all things anomalous. An early age proclivity at recalling his nightly dreams as well as several personal experiences with ESP, precognition and dream switching bolstered his interest in the paranormal. Shortly after high-school he joined the local MUFON chapter in Austin, Texas. He would later become a MUFON State Section Director for that group as well as leader of the local UFO Experiencer Support and Study Group. A lover of books, SMiles collected over 1000 titles before founding the non-profit Anomaly Archives that serves as the lending library of the Scientific Anomaly Institute (501c3). For over twenty years he has worked with digital audio, video and other bleeding edge internet technologies. He has published his own print journal (E.L.F. Infested Spaces), edited a local paranormal newspaper (Austin Para Times), maintained a large network of websites (ELFIS.net), organized a national UFO conference (NUFOC-38), spoken to anthropologists about UFOs and parapsychology (Encounters with the Fantastic), hosted (and been a guest on) both terrestrial and webradio talk shows and has been podcasting since before the phrase existed. All these efforts and more have led radio talk show host Robert Larson to describe Miles as a “Gonzo Alt-Media Proprietor and Informationalist.” He is also the LOWFI-Texas State Bureau Chief of The League of Western Fortean Intermediatists.

SMiles’ current projects include co-hosting PsiOp-Radio with Mack White as part of the many unique shows airing daily on his ANOMALY RADIO Network.

He is active with several local non-profits which includes his service on the board of directors for the Institute for Neuroscience And Consciousness Studies (INACS) and the Scientific Anomaly Institute‘s lending library, the Anomaly Archives.

His writings can be found within the Archives of his print journal ELFIS and ANOMALY Magazine.

In his day job with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission‘s Talking Book Program he manages a Volunteer Recording Studio and audio duplication department and has been a consultant on two digital audio development documents for the Library of Congress‘ National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Nicholas “Nick” Redfern was born in 1964 in Pelsall, Walsall, West Midlands, England. He is an author, Ufologist and Cryptozoologist now living in Arlington, Texas, United States.

The Anomaly Archives and Austin Mufon Welcome Texas State Mufon Director Steve Hudgeons. Steve is a Navy veteran and 17 year member of MUFON. Steve is the Project Manager of a successful construction company and also works with the Fort WorthPolice Department on neighborhood policing projects.

Named MUFON Texas State Director in June of 2010, Steve also hosts a weekly webradio program called Texas UFO Radio on the Inception Radio Network.

Steve Hudgeons has been a MUFON Member since 1991 and became a Certified MUFON Field Investigator in 1995.

In 2008 Steve headed a group of Texas Field Investigators during the Dublin / Stephenville Flap and was appointed to Chief Investigator and Texas Assistant State Director in 2009. He was also named MUFON Volunteer of the Month in 2008

In June of 2010 Steve Hudgeons became State Director of MUFON Texas .

Steve has been interviewed for many radio, television and print media outlets such as The Today Show, Fox News, Texas Monthly, Popular Science, UFO Magazine, and the History Channel’s UFO Hunters Stephenville episode.

Steve hosts the weekly webradio show, ” Texas UFO Radio“, Tuesday nights at 8 PM Central time on The Inception Radio Network.

Festinger’s theory of cognitive dissonance can account for the psychological consequences of disconfirmed expectations. One of the first published cases of dissonance was reported in the book, When Prophecy Fails (Festinger et al. 1956). Festinger and his associates read an interesting item in their local newspaper headlined “Prophecy from planet Clarion call to city: flee that flood.” A housewife from Chicago (changed to “Michigan” in the book), given the name “Marian Keech” (real name: Dorothy Martin, later known as Sister Thedra[1]), had mysteriously been given messages in her house in the form of “automatic writing” from alien beings on the planet Clarion. These messages revealed that the world would end in a great flood before dawn on December 21, 1954. Mrs. Keech had previously been involved with L. Ron Hubbard‘s Dianetics movement, and her cult incorporated ideas from what was to become Scientology.[2] The group of believers, headed by Keech, had taken strong behavioral steps to indicate their degree of commitment to the belief. Using satellite data, Dimitar Ouzounov, a professor of earth sciences at Chapman University in California, and his colleagues found that the concentration of electrons in the ionosphere increased in the days before the earthquake, as did infrared radiation. March 8, three days before the quake, was the most anomalous day.
