ANOMALY HEADLINES:
<snip> "... he recently infiltrated Silicon Valley to summarize his four decades of research in a public presentation at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto.
<snip> "... the event was hosted by the Foundation for Mind-Being Research (FMBR), a 25-year-old Silicon Valley-based organization of scientists, engineers, spiritualists, artists, philosophers, psychics and psychologists devoted to establishing consciousness studies as a bona fide science. One of FMBR's main principles is that the four-dimensional space-time world of ordinary human experience may be inadequate to accommodate the physics of the mind sciences. Vallee's research throughout the last four decades intertwines with that theory.
"This lecture was an experiment," he explained via email afterward. "I am staying away from the media and public presentations because the field has become so polarized between different ideologies that anything I would say as a scientist would be lost in the noise. The FMBR group is unique because it is open-minded and understands the nature of research. Thus it provided an opportunity to test my current conclusions about the phenomenon before a responsive, yet critical audience."
In the presentation, he explained that the entire UFO discourse has degenerated into a confrontational and polarized situation between the hard-core skeptics and the extraterrestrial believers, and we need new radical hypotheses. So Vallee and others are going back underground and returning to the days of the Invisible College, the title of his 1975 book about a group of scientists researching UFOs while keeping their names and activities out of the press.
<snip> "I continue to do research, but I do it with my own resources, in communication with a small network of scientists and investigators around the world. Good progress can be done this way, in an environment of trust rather than confrontation or hype."

- Brazilian Military Recognize UFO Research And Release Classified Information by A. J. Gevaerd, Editor of the Brazilian UFO Magazine and Head of the Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers - CBU
Friday, May 20, was an historic day for Ufology in Brazil, and around the world, as the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), for the very first time in its history, officially received a committee of top UFO researchers to openly discuss UFO sightings in Brazil and fully examine classified government UFO documents in several military facilities in Brasilia, the Federal Capital.
By taking this very important step, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has placed Brazil on a very short list of countries whose militaries acknowledge that Ufology is a serious activity and a significant effort to fully understand the nature and origin of UFOs. "We want to have all info on the subject, that is withheld by us for some decades, fully released to public, through the UFO community", declared Brigadier Telles Ribeiro, chief of Brazilian Air Force Communication Center.
The Brazilian Government, through the Brazilian Air Force, finally decided to come forward and recognize UFO research as a genuine activity as a direct result of intense pressure by the campaign, UFOs: Freedom of Information Now, a movement started by the Brazilian UFO Magazine in April 2004.

- Brazilian UFO Disclosure Preparing The Field by Santiago Yturria Garza
Dear A.J.,
Only a year after the Mexican Air Force case released by SEDENA - through Jaime Maussan on a memorable day - you and all our Brazilian collagues received the recognition of the Brazilian Air Force, who opened their doors to discuss and share their UFO files kept classified for many years.
This is the prize you all deserved for your continuous effort, insisting on a UFO Disclosure to the Brazilian people, a campaign that took a definitive path in May 2004 with the initiative: UFOs: Freedom Of Information Now.

COMMENTS ON "THE H-GLAZE EXPLAINED" POSTING on WWW.XSTREAMSCIENCE.ORG by W.C. Levengood and John Burke
Early in 2005, on the above-listed web site, R. Ashby posted a revision of his original "The H-glaze" posting which reported his analysis of a crop circle anomaly related to a 1993 crop formation found at Cherhill, Wiltshire (UK). In both of these postings, Mr. Ashby refers to a 1995 paper published by W.C. Levengood and John A. Burke reporting on deposited materials retrieved from this same formation, "Semi-Molten Meteoric Iron Associated with a Crop Formation", in Journal of Scientific Exploration, Vol.9, No.2, pp.191-199. While we commend Mr. Ashby for his hard work and his desire to now correct some of his earlier errors, we need to point out some additional errors concerning our paper, which are contained in this most recent web-posting .
We begin by reminding the reader that "Semi-Molten Meteoric Iron Associated with a Crop Formation" is a scientific paper published in a peer-reviewed journal, which means it was sent out by the J. Sci. Exploration to reviewers who are considered to be authorities in various appropriate fields - which reviewers approved the paper before it was accepted for publication. We point out that one of the comments which came back from the reviewers was that the astronomy-related information in the paper was particularly good (this refers to our identification of the deposited material as meteoric dust).
Mr. Ashby's new web-posting often comes to a conclusion after failing to account for or address facts which were presented in our 1995 paper, as well as points presented by Mr. Ashby himself in his first web-posting - points that contradict the conclusions of his recent report.

The IONS Austin Community Group are one of several like-minded organizations the Anomaly Archives has partnered with. We host their growing collections of Mind-Body-Spirit related books and multimedia. This recent Gainsville article highlights IONS founder Edgar Mitchell and his continued efforts to expand the public's consciousness.
Astronaut says some events are unexplainable
The sixth man to walk on the moon spoke about his experience with unexplainable phenomena Thursday to a skeptical audience of about 100 scientists.
Edgar Mitchell, an astronaut on Apollo 14, talked of the experiences that led him to research the unexplainable at the 24th annual meeting of the Society for Scientific Exploration at the Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel in Gainesville.
"It isn't science, but personal experience, that stimulates you to do good science," he said.
Mitchell, who holds a doctorate in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, worked on the first extended research trip to the moon in 1971. He founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences to sponsor the study of unconventional scientific models, such as intuition and feeling, and he was inducted into the Space Hall of Fame in 1979 and the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1998.
His interest in the unexplainable began on his way back to Earth aboard Apollo 14. He gazed out the window and realized he was connected to the stars, his colleagues and the planet through his own molecules, he said.

COLLECTIONS:
The following is an interesting excerpt from one of my favorite UFO books. This book deserves the award for Best UFO Title Yet. We now have two copies of this fine tome in the Anomaly Archives collection.
This excerpt was posted to the UFO UpDates eList by web-trawler Terry W. Colvin who found it at the homepage of J. Orlin Grabbe.
- Cyberbiological studies of the imaginal component in the UFO contact experience - Dennis Stillings, Editor.
"Sexual Manipulation Of Humans By Non-Human Entities" from 'Signals of Transcendence: The Human UFO-equation,' by Peter M. Rojcewicz.
Although superior to mortals in many ways, [fairies] need humans to be parents to fairy offspring, thereby enriching their own bloodlines.
Ufologists of the past and present have speculated that extraterrestrials abduct humans for the purposes of genetic engineering and interspecies breeding, as was presumably the case with Antonio Villas Boas (the case discussed by Gordon Creighton in Rogo's UFO Abductions) and with Debra Tomey - alias 'Kathie Davis' in Budd Hopkins' Intruders.
Folklore evidence pointing to the sexual manipulation of humans by nonhuman entities, since time immemorial and throughout the world, is well documented.
In both Genesis 6:4 and the apocryphal Book of Enoch (XV:3-8), the explanation given for the rebellion of the angels gainst God is that, after the creation of Adam, the angels lusted after the daughters of men and fornicated with them, so that they gave birth to a race of demons or evil giants.
Like UFO occupants abusing humans, fairies abuse mortals as well. For this reason, people fear the fairies; they refer to them euphemistically as the Good People and the Gentle Folk.
This is but a single example of the tradition of using apotropaisms to ward off evil effects. The Furies were called the "Eumenides," which means "the well disposed." The Black Sea is called the Hospitable Sea.
In Part II, Act I, Scene 5 of Goethe's masterpiece, Faust protects himself against the mention of "the old heathen race" of the Goddesses: "The Mothers! The Mothers! It sounds so strange."
C.G. Jung observed that the German people speak to each other in the plural, as a protective formality. Perhaps it is for the same reason that people today refer to aliens as the Space Brothers.

eNEWS FEATURE:
In The Big Thicket: On the Trail of the Wild Man - Exploring Nature's Mysterious Dimension by Rob Riggs.
A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to go on my first Bigfoot Expedition with a couple of friends who are part of the cutting edge community of Texas bigfoot researchers. Rob Riggs and I teamed up with our expedition leader, Chester Moore, Jr. Chester hosts the annual Southern Crypto Conference in Conroe, Texas (see the Events section for info on this exciting conference happening in two weeks) and is a leading light in the hunt for cryptozoological critters around the State. Chester Moore, Junior and Senior, had staked out the likely stomping grounds of a family of bigfoot critters at a spot on the Sabine river accessible only by boat. Recent activity found by their investigations led them to believe we would find plenty of evidence for the existence of one of nature's most elusive lost mammals. Though we didn't ever see any bigfoot in the flesh, we did see a number of signs of their presence, including tracks that were cast by the Chesters.
But that's one of the biggest mysteries about the possible existence of bigfoot - where is the flesh and blood? In fact, just as in UFOlogy where you have two main camps of belief, one described as the Nuts-And-Bolts camp and another that could be categorized as the Paranormal or MultiDimensional camp, so too in Bigfoot oriented CryptoZoology where there exists a Blood-And-Guts camp and a MultiDimensional camp. The Chesters are a very open-minded bunch of "Blood-And-Gutters;" while entertaining the ideas espoused by Rob Riggs, they still think we are dealing exclusively with an as yet formally accepted North American Hominid and has even founded the American Primate Conservation Alliance. Personally, I feel completely convinced by the incredibly respectable efforts of Chester Moore as well as the other Texas Bigfoot Researchers. I fully expect the next biggest Bigfoot discovery to come from East Texas. That said, I have always been equally drawn towards the more inclusive Anomalist approach to Bigfoot research. And Rob Riggs has written a powerful tome exploring these more multidimensional possibilities inherent in an understanding of the larger Bigfoot phenomena as it relates to those recurring Spook Lights (aka Ghost Lights) that seem to haunt the same regions as the strange Wild Man.
Rob Riggs' book is titled In the Big Thicket, and though there is little in that title to give it away, this book covers the gamut of Fortean / Anomaly subjects. With East Texas' Big Thicket as the locus and launching point Rob explores the subjects of Ghost Lights (BOLs or Balls Of Light said to "haunt" specific locales), Bigfoot and related legendary humanoids (like those from the book's subtitle, On the Trail of the Wild Man). PLUS Rob covers the connections between strange electromagnetic effects and their implications for non-local consciousness and the paranormal powers it can manifest.
Rob Riggs expertly weaves together these seemingly disparate subjects relating personal accounts that are as much travelogue as journalistic investigation. In fact Rob's background in radio and newspaper journalism facilitate his skillful ability to present his ideas in a straightforward and naturally flowing manner. This chronicling of his own encounters with luminous phenomena in the Big Thicket and elsewhere are presented alongside the experiences of other witnesses to the weird.
Rob's conclusion combine the research of many fine investigators of these mysteries, however, his ideas about the ultimate nature of the phenomena are very unique. He suspects that the ghost lights might not only appear to be intelligent creatures with a connection to the wild man, bigfoot, and other lychenthrope type shape-shifters, but that that they are in fact the luminous disembodied consciousnesses of advanced human shamans like those in the folk traditions of voodoo, cajun folktales and the Haitian Society of "Flying Men" researched by Douchan Girsi.
Wild ideas indeed. But Rob invokes the cherished research of such famous (and some infamous) luminaries as earth lights researchers Paul Devereux and David Clarke, tectonic strain theorist Michael Persinger, Fortean and Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, ParaCryptozUfologist Ted Holiday, guerilla ontologist Robert Anton Wilson, writer Jacques Bergier, journalist John Keel, contact artist Paul Laffoley, Cycles of Heaven author Guy Lyon Playfair, Douchan Girsi - author of Faces in the Smoke, and of course ufologist Jacques Vallee.
Some other researchers whose ideas fit into all this quite well, include Jenny Randles, Albert Budden and Dr. Greg Little. All three of these researchers have written multiple volumes explicating the intricate connections between these Spook Light phenomena and strange encounters with anomalous entities. While none of them goes so far as to suggest that the lights represent the wandering consciousness of yogis or shamans, each of them postulate that the lights interface with human consciousness in some way and that there may in fact be an Overmind such as the collective unconscious or indeed the Archetypes themselves from that same Jungian realm, at work in these multiple mysteries.
There is so much more to be said and researched concerning Ghost Lights. I suggest you attend the Texas Ghost Lights Conference this coming Saturday from 2-6pm when Paul Devereux, Nick Redfern, James Bunnell, Rob Riggs and myself will explore the evidence for the reality of these mysteries.
